Phil Schiller: iPhone was a revolution 10 years ago and remains out of competition

To treat iPhone differently, but to deny the impact of the smartphone on the mobile market it is unlikely that someone will become. iPhone 2G was announced 10 years ago, January 9, 2007 at Macworld 2007 event in San Francisco, and became the first commercially successful mobile phone touch screen, for management of which was not required stylus. Apple Vice President Phil Schiller said that not everyone understands how revolutionary for its time, was this product.

According to the then head of Apple Steve jobs, who personally presented the new iPhone combines three devices — multimedia player iPod, phone, and Internet Communicator. For its time, the iPhone 2G was a breakthrough, and Time magazine even named it invention of the year.

“Many do not realize how revolutionary was the first iPhone and like everyone fell in love with him, says Schiller. – iPhone has brought to life the idea of smart phone. It’s really a computer in your pocket. The idea of a full Internet, a full web browser, multitouch. It was a lot of things that are the basis of today’s smartphones, creating a product that customers love and ask for new content and applications.”

The market has welcomed the iPhone with open arms: in the first weekend after the start of sales in the summer of 2007 was sold about 700,000 units, while the total circulation of the first iPhone for all time of its stay in the market exceeded 7 million units. The total number sold since the devices under the brand iPhone has exceeded one billion units.

Some critics, however, believe that the recent evolution of Apple’s smartphone slowed down. Phil Schiller doesn’t agree.

“I really believe that progress in the latest iPhone is not inferior, and even surpasses previous models of the smartphone, Schiller said. – I think that actually changing our expectations, not product development. If you follow the evolution of each version starting with the original iPhone and iPhone 3G up to iPhone 4 and 4s, you will see similar changes. Increased the display size from 3.5 inches to 4 inches, and now from 4.7 to 5.5 inches. You will see an incredible improvement in the camera, starting with the first, which did not support video recording up to two cameras – front and rear, and now up to three cameras with live photo and 4K video.”

Schiller is sure that the iPhone remains the best smartphone on the market.

“The unsurpassed quality. Unrivaled ease of use. Unsurpassed integration of software and hardware. We are not talking about “cheaper”, we are not talking about “more” – we are about “better””.

On the tenth anniversary of the corporate smartphone Apple issued an official press release, which cited the words of Tim cook: “iPhone is an integral part of consumer life, and in our day as never before it determines the way we communicate, entertain, work and live. iPhone has set new standards in mobile technology, but this is only the beginning. The best is yet to come”.
