Nikkei: Foxconn to start developing wireless charging for iPhone 8

Industry sources continue to share information about the new generation of Apple’s smartphone, which is expected to be announced in the fall of 2017. According to Japanese resource Nikkei, the iPhone 8 will be able to support wireless charging.

As it became known publication, the company Foxconn, which is one of the main suppliers of components for Apple is currently testing wireless charging, which will be equipped with iPhone 8.

Technical details about the device under test are not reported. The sources noted that the emergence of wireless charging capabilities in the new iPhone is still under question, as Foxconn is necessary to achieve acceptable profitability of the production modules is charging.

“But whether the present development in the new devices from Apple, depends on whether Foxconn can improve production to a satisfactory level later”, — the newspaper notes. In addition, it is unknown whether all modifications of iPhone will receive a new function.

Apple, which Nikkei asked for clarification, refused to comment on the situation. In Foxconn also declined to comment on the message. Now, according to the resource, a new smartphone known as Apple iPhone 8, but in the end the title can be changed.

Note that last week the Nikkei reported about the development of three versions of the iPhone 8 with a screen diagonal of 4.7, 5, and 5.5 inch. All three modifications need to glass the rear, and the older version of the smartphone will be powered by a curved OLED display.
