New mode Night Shift in macOS Sierra 10.12.4 will protect the vision of Mac users

On Tuesday Apple released the first test version of the update macOS Sierra 10.12.4, which appeared in the special night mode. A feature that was first introduced in iOS 9.3 last year, called the Night Shift.

As conceived by Apple, a special mode of operation screen reduces the burden on the eyes of the owner of the Mac and makes it easier to sleep if the man had a chance to use a computer before sleep.

The essence of Night Shift is that in the evening the color scheme of the monitor to warm up, protecting the eyes from excessive load, and in the morning to return to normal position. Driving mode in System settings –> Monitors. Added tab Night Shift where you can adjust the color temperature (from cold blue to warm yellow) and configure the schedule. To activate the mode you can also use the voice assistant Siri.

According to researches, emitted by the screens blue interfere with the secretion of the hormone melatonin, which makes it easier to fall asleep and is also responsible for circadian rhythms. According to experts, the use of gadgets before bedtime delays the time you fall asleep for about an hour.

“Many studies have shown that exposure to bright blue light in the evening can affect your circadian rhythms, which complicates the process of falling asleep. Night mode will use time and location data from your device to determine the sunset time in your region”, – stated on the Apple website.

Earlier the mode of working the same Night Shift was available to owners of Mac by installing third-party programs. In particular, the function implemented by the developer of a program called f.lux. Apple is not allowed to publish this tool in the Mac App Store, apparently in order not to compete with his decision. f.lux is also available in the form of applications for Windows and Linux.
