New helmet virtual reality Samsung works without a smartphone and tracks the movement of eyes and hands

Samsung showed a virtual reality helmet VR III Exynos that works without a smartphone. The announcement took place at the exhibition Mobile World Congress 2017 in Shanghai. Unlike the Gear VR, the device does not need to place the smartphone, this gadget tracks the movement of the eyes thanks to the technology of Visual Camp.

The device looks larger than the Gear VR headset. Screen size is unknown. It is reported that the device uses either the panel is 4K resolution with a frame rate of 75 Hz or a pair of screen resolution is 2960 x 1440 pixels each with a frequency of 90 Hz.

Judging by the name Exynos VR III, was also Exynos VR I and II, but they were not announced publicly. In addition to tracking the movements of the eyes, a VR helmet that Samsung has built facial recognition technology and, possibly, the inner tracker, which monitors the movements of the user.

The helmet is constructed on the basis of a 10-nm processor with a graphics module Mali G71, most likely, we are talking about top-end Exynos chip Series 9 8895. The device looks pretty bulky. Most likely, the final version will be much smaller and lighter.

In June it was reported that Samsung bought a developer of applications for capturing and viewing videos in the format of 360 degree VRB. The company creates services based on virtual reality technology.

Release date of the VR helmet Samsung is not called. Presumably, this will happen in the next year.
