Music service Facebook will compete with Apple Music

Facebook intends to launch its own streaming service, which will be a direct competitor to Apple Music and Spotify. According to resource Music Ally, the negotiations with the right holder are actively conducted.

The first step to creating streaming will be the development of an algorithm monetization of clips that are already playable in Facebook. To pay royalties for use of works, the social network may follow the example of YouTube and run a system for identifying music content that allows rights holders to track down videos that use their music. They will be able to access the social network with a request to remove a video or to assert its rights. In the second case they will receive a share of ad revenue.

According to some reports, the system for identifying music content in the video can be started in the coming months. Experiment with video will be a kind of test, after which the company will decide how and when you will be able to enter the music market.

As for streaming services, Facebook will probably build service itself than buy an existing one. However, if the social network known for expensive shopping does decide in favor of the acquisition of a startup from the market, the most likely candidate can be a streaming service Rdio. Its price is not specified, however it is reported that it is much less than the cost estimated at 8.5 billion dollars Spotify.
