MTS launched the technology of aggregation of LTE frequencies, which allows to increase the speed in the reverse communication channel up to 90 Mbps. While this service was presented by the MTS for its Moscow subscribers. The solution is currently only available on a few Samsung smartphones.
MTS on Thursday announced the launch of its network in Moscow and the technology of Carrier Aggregation, which allows to significantly increase the rate of the reverse channel in an LTE network. The company claims that this is the first commercial launch of this technology in Russia.
The technology of Carrier Aggregation uses an aggregate of the frequencies of two bands in which LTE networks is 1800 MHz and 2.5 GHz. It is possible to obtain the maximum data upload speed (uplink) – 95 MB/s with a theoretical maximum of 112 MB/s. These speeds allow you to upload a 10 minute video HD in less than one minute.
MTS emphasize that the possibilities of technology, Carrier Aggregation is especially useful for bloggers and allow them to “live” in social networks “Vkontakte”, Facebook, and Instagram Periscope and put the video on YouTube, to organize a stable video conferencing, faster spread in the “cloud” services and messengers “heavy” content.
However, opportunities to use new technologies is limited to a small number of compatible gadgets. Currently on the market are Samsung S8 and S8+, individual model, Xiaomi routers and the NetGear. But in 2017, the Uplink Carrier Aggregation technology will be available in most new flagship smartphones, sure the MTS.
Earlier, Russian mobile operators, including MTS, has already used the technology of Carrier Aggregation to aggregate frequencies in different diapazonakh and increase the speed of downloading information – Uplink. Operators have learned how to aggregate frequencies in the bands 2.5 GHz, 800 MHz and 1800 MHz, running in one kind of LTE – FDD, as well as frequencies in the 2.5 GHz frequency band for a different kind of LTE – TDD..
Other mobile operators are also testing Carrier Aggregation. Capital “the Megaphone” has made tests in the beginning of 2017, “But to start the commercial operation of this technology is now pointless, as there is practically no compatible devices, — said the representative of the company.
