Moscow metro refused to run Wi-Fi at stations for safety reasons

The Moscow metro leadership abandoned plans for installing Wi-Fi at subway stations. This was told to the Agency “Moscow” the first Deputy head of the subway Yuri Degtyarev. According to him, this decision caused concern about security.

The decision was made following the results of the pilot project, during which the passengers have access to Wi-Fi access on four stations of the Moscow subway (“Dmitry Donskoy Boulevard”, “starokachalovskaya Street”, “Business center” and “Exhibition”). The network has allowed free access in the lobbies and on the platforms and escalators.

According to the results of the project, the provision of such services leads to large crowds on the platforms, posing a threat to the safety of passengers.
