The miniStack difference from analogues is modularity: the user can connect several of these drives, thereby increasing available storage capacity. However, the drives can communicate not only with each other but also with Mac mini. The idea of the model is to provide a workstation Apple miniature drive that complements the design of the device.

OWC miniStack is a body of anodized aluminum, which can be installed HDD size 3.5 inches or HDD or SSD size 2.5 inches with interface SATA. Connecting the drive via USB 3.1 is provided by the controller ASMedia ASM1153E.
