MegaFon has allocated frequency bands for testing of 5G communication standard in the world championship on football which will pass in Russia in 2018. This is stated in the message of Ministry of communications. The decision to allocate bandwidth to the operator was received by the state Commission for radio frequencies.
“An important outcome of the meeting was adopted the decision on allocation of the company “Megaphone” of radio frequency band 3400-3800 MHz for test deployments of fixed network segment connection, the fifth-generation 5G and the radio frequency band 25250-29500 MHz to deploy the mobile segment 5G at world Cup 2018″, – stated in the message.
The Ministry notes that this trial network will help to define the conditions of use of the promising networks from the viewpoint of compatibility with other radio services. The Ministry also said that according to the program “Digital economy” by 2024 5G network in one form or another will be deployed in all cities with a population of 300 000 inhabitants.
MegaFon intends to organize at stadiums and fan zones are special stands where visitors can see and taste the possibilities of 5G on special devices (by this time subscribers will not yet have devices that can receive the signal 5G, at its booth operator will give visitors the opportunity to use the prototypes).
In the “MegaFon” noted that the positive decision of the state Commission will allow the company to not only understand the technical capabilities of the networks and conditions of use of radio spectrum in the future, but also to prepare guidelines for industry on the effective implementation of this technology.
“In Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi and Kazan we plan to build a 5G test area, the first in the world setting a new technological record”, – reads the statement of the operator.
Technology fifth generation mobile communication is expected to be launched commercially after 2020. A record data transfer rate in the experimental areas of 5G network reached 25 GB/s that allows you to broadcast video with a resolution of 8K (Ultra HD) online.
