Apple will cut prices on the MacBook Pro line and will add support of 32 GB RAM next year. This was announced on Tuesday KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Traditionally Apple sets higher prices for new devices in the year of the launch. But the next year is expected to decrease the cost of production. This rule is true for the new MacBook Pro, says Kuo. The analyst notes that next year, with the launch of Intel Cannonlake, buyers of options will be available with 32 GB of RAM.
“The new MacBook Pro, which will be released in the second quarter of 2017, unable to support 32 GB of RAM. These devices must involve professionals – it all depends on the new Intel Cannonlake. These chips more energy efficient by 15-25% when working with memory LPDDR 4 compared to LPDDR 3. If Cannonlake will not be available on the mass market, the new MacBook Pro will have to settle for Coffee Lake and, therefore, LPDDR 3. The maximum amount of DRAM will stay at 16 GB,” writes Kuo.
Many users after the presentation of the MacBook Pro noticed that new laptops unchanged from the entire list of specifications remained the maximum available amount of RAM equal to 16 GB. In private correspondence with one user, a top Apple Executive explained that the use of the RAM more than 16 GB would have a negative impact on battery life MacBook Pro, most users still wouldn’t use all 32 GB of RAM.
It is worth noting that in Russia the most affordable MacBook Pro with Touch Bar at the official online Apple store costs 144 990 rubles. This configuration includes a dual-Core Intel Core i5 2.9 GHz and an integrated graphics Iris Graphics 550, 8 GB RAM, SSD 256 GB and a 13-inch display.
But the most expensive representative of the updated family is the model with 15-inch screen, Quad-core 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD and discrete GPU Radeon Pro 460 with 4 GB of memory. In this set the buyer will have to pay 348 990 rubles.
