Lost AirPods? Not a problem, Apple will help to find headphones

Apple added the ability to search AirPods using the service “Find my iPhone”. This feature is available for users of iOS, starting with version 10.3 and above.

To successfully detect a wireless headset, the service Find my iPhone must be configured on the smartphone or other gadget, which is associated with AirPods. If the headset is lost somewhere far away and is presumed to be outside the range of the device on the map will be marked when and where it was connected last time.

The service “Find my iPhone” is able to detect the headphones that had fallen out of the case. The map will be a few notches:

  • the blue color indicates the device through which the user is trying to find the missing;
  • the green circle shows the location of active AirPods.
  • grey headset discharged, turned off, both the earphone is placed in the cover or fell somewhere far away. Most likely, at this point they were active in recent times.

If AirPods marked on the map, and their battery is not depleted, the user may pave the way before them and send the audio signal to find the loss easier.

If AirPods lost separately on the map is marked the location of only one of them. So the search will have to conduct in two stages: first you need to find first the earpiece, put it in a case, to update the map and proceed to the second.

It is important that the service “Find my iPhone” was set to missing headset. If you find headphones failed because they were out of range, the associated device may receive a notification when the AirPods will once again be in the network.
