LG will supply OLED displays for iPhone X Plus

LG Display will produce 2-4 million OLED displays for iPhone X Plus. This will allow Apple to reduce reliance on Samsung and possibly reduce the prices for parts, writes the South China Morning Post.

The first OLED screens from LG Display will be used in one of the new iPhone models this year, said the sources of the Korean newspaper. LG wants to become the sole supplier of displays for this model, but it is unclear whether it can satisfy the required demand.

Earlier the Financial Times wrote that LG will produce the screens for the 6.5-inch iPhone, which will be enlarged version of the iPhone X. LG will supply 2-4 million displays because it is still in increasing production. In April, the newspaper The Wall Street Journal reported that LG was faced with problems in the production of OLED screens and behind the schedule.

Despite the fact that LG will produce 2-4 million displays, this is not enough to meet the demand of Apple. But it will help Apple to reduce the price of supplies and to reduce dependence on OLED Samsung screens. According to experts, the iPhone display X costs $ 110 is the most expensive part of the smartphone.
