Kia cars for free get support for Apple CarPlay

At the end of this month owners of Kia cars will be notified about how to update software on-Board multimedia system to sync with iPhone and Android smartphones. This decision was taken at Kia Motors America.

As stated by the head of the technical division of the Kia Motors Henry Bzeih, the company is pleased to offer its customers a convenient service completely free of charge. Update compatibility with Apple CarPlay will be available to owners of eight Kia models equipped with a built-in NAV or media system UVO3.

CarPlay involves the synchronization of iPhone with the head unit of the car. The driver can make phone calls, receive and send SMS, listen to music and enjoy some interactive applications.

Earlier, the Russian office Kia announced the appearance in Russia of Kia cars with multimedia systems, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Then Eugene Teterina, chief specialist of corporate communications at Kia Motors Rus, said that the novelty will appear in Russia in mid-2016.

The readiness to adopt modern automotive platforms, said many automakers. However, not all the giants decided to follow the trend. Last year, Toyota officially refused Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Cars next-generation Toyota plans to use the interface a little-known company Telenav.
