KGI: iPhone 8 gets a 5.8-inch screen with a new “functional area” in the lower part

Some time ago, sources reported that Apple is preparing to release three new versions iPhone, one of which will differ significantly from current generation smartphones. According to the authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the future Apple smartphone will get a new functional area at the bottom of the screen. Its implementation will be possible thanks to the virtually frameless design of the iPhone 8 and the larger screen sizes of display panel to 5.8 inches.

New functional area will be located in the same place where is the key “Home” and will replace the fingerprint scanner Touch ID. However, as noted, Apple is going to compensate for the lack of recent new technologies of biometric identification, which will ensure the security of the smartphone and will offer functionality similar to Touch ID.

Despite the use of iPhone 8 display with a diagonal of 5.8 inches, its effective area will be restricted to a 5.15 inches. This probably explains appear earlier contradictory rumors about the diagonal of the screen of the future iPhone. The analysts does not explain what constitutes a “functional area” of the screen of the smartphone. It can be implemented in the form of virtual buttons or analog Touch panel, Bar the MacBook Pro.
