Jonathan Ive officially became the main Director of design Apple

Apple’s chief designer Jonathan Ive, been with the company since 1992 and have developed the appearance of most products of the company, received a new position of senior Director in design. This is evidenced by the official page of the Apple website. For the first time this appointment became known in may of this year.

Previously Ive held the position of Vice President of the company. Now this position was replaced by two new Vice-President for industrial design and Vice President of UI design, will take their two Deputy Quince: Richard Howarth and Alan Give.

Formally, Ive became the third person of the Apple, as it has only two heads were called the “main” Directors – chief Executive officer Tim cook and chief financial officer Luca Maestri.

As a result of permutations of the majority of administrative responsibilities away from the deputies of the Quince that will allow him to focus more on global strategic issues. In particular, he will be involved in interior design of retail stores Apple Store and making a new headquarters in California, which will accommodate more than 12,000 employees.

Born in the UK Ive joined Apple in 1992, and in 1997 he headed the design Department. Long time worked together with co-founder Steve jobs, who called him a “spiritual companion”.

Ive participated directly in the development of all key Apple products, including a one-piece desktop of the iMac, aluminum and titanium PowerBook G4 laptops, laptops MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPod, iPhone smartphones and tablets iPad. In total, named Quince related about 5000 patents for design and invention. In 2005 he received the title of commander of the order of the British Empire, in 2012 the title of knight commander of the knights, giving him a knighthood.
