Iran wants to ban sales of the iPhone

Iranian authorities have threatened to ban the use of iPhone, if Apple does not register in the country office to combat smuggling. On Tuesday according to Life.

“If Apple does not register an official representative in Iran in the coming days, all the iPhone will be withdrawn from the market”, — said the head of the Agency for combating smuggling in Iran.

According to a report by news Agency Tasnim, Iran has more than 40 million smartphone users, millions of whom prefer the iPhone. Many of these devices are shipped into the country by smugglers.

The government of Iran in cooperation with mobile operators, telecommunications companies and Resellers will establish a registry of mobile phones that will be logged in a Central database.

Since Apple has no official representation in the country, her business is not recognized as legitimate, and the products may not be registered in accordance with the new rules.

UN sanctions against Iran will not allow American companies to sell their products in the country, but last year Apple began talks with Iranian distributors in the hope that the restrictions will be lifted this year.

So far, the Cupertino-based company did not comment on information from Iran.
