iPhone for the first time in 5 years has ceased to be the top selling smartphone in China

iPhone for the first time in the last five years has failed to become the top selling smartphone in China. As reported by GizmoChina, citing a report of the analytical company Counterpoint Research, now that title belongs to the OPPO R9. By the end of 2016 in China has sold 17 million units (5 million more than iPhone 6s), which provided OPPO R9 4% of the local market.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the major Chinese vendors OPPO, Vivo and Huawei noted sales growth of 109%, 78% and 21% respectively. And the sales of smartphones Apple, by contrast, fell by 21%, which is only slightly better performance Xiaomi, ended the year 22% drop in shipments.

In Counterpoint explained why last year in China fell, sales of Apple smartphones. Currently, reportedly the driving force in the mobile market are smartphones with OLED displays, dual cameras and a battery with high capacity and fast charging. These features are absent in the iPhone 6s. And iPhone 7 Plus, though equipped with dual primary camera and a bigger battery, simply not available to many customers in China because of the price.

At the same time, the new iPhone 8, as expected, does get a new design and OLED display. And head of research, Counterpoint Research Neil Shah is confident that the next Apple smartphone will be crucial for American companies. This is a very important product.

Another factor in the decline in sales of iPhone in China was the growing popularity of smartphones average. And Apple well see the deplorable situation in the country, forcing the company to focus on another emerging market – India. The same, incidentally, deals and Xiaomi.
