The authors of the publication Ferra held a so-called blind test of cameras popular flagship smartphones. In the tests involved four models: iPhone 6s, LG G4, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Sony Xperia Z5.
All participants of the rating were presented to assess the image quality under the code designations “Picture 1”, “Picture 2”, “Picture 3” and so on, thus avoiding bias in the evaluation of photographs. For comparison, devices were selected some of the most popular shooting conditions: shooting outdoors in Sunny weather, macro shooting text shooting in low light and selfie.
During testing, the reviewers sought to make the final images were the most similar. In the case of landscape shooting was conducted with one point, in the real selfie shot was composed so that the head is occupied equal space in the frame.
According to the final results, the leader was the smartphone LG G4, which impressed the majority of the votes cast. In ideal conditions it is better image detail, but the huge role is played by the image processing after shooting. “Software sharpening is clearly evident when shooting macro, but in General it enhances the picture,” say the authors of the experiment. iPhone 6s took second place in the rating of user preferences.
“iPhone 6s still demonstrates a perfect balance between resolution and quality photography. Sufficient detail, proper white balance, the lack of aggressive post-processing makes the pictures very natural. Well, each picture is individually occupy a smaller volume is easier from the point of view of the archive and upload to the cloud”.
In the case of Sony Xperia Z5, the reviewers noted progress in comparison with the Xperia. Increasing resolution no matter what is not affected, but the camera began to shoot better. Overall, all of the current flagships shoot great and each of them was successfully able to replace an inexpensive compact camera.
