iPhone 6s failed? The manufacturer of the A9 chips Apple reported record profits for the last 29 years

Largest contract chip maker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) reported record financial results. By the end of 2015 net income of the company supplying Apple A9 processors for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, for the year increased by 16% reaching $9,15 billion, which is a record for the company for 29 years.

TSMC revenues were higher than analysts ‘ forecasts despite the rumors about declining sales of the iPhone. To achieve results the Taiwanese company has helped product sales for Apple, as well as the development of more advanced production technology.

Market analysts had forecast a net profit of TSMC in the fourth quarter of 2015 at the level of 68.5 billion Taiwan dollars, and in fact they accounted for 72.8 billion Taiwan dollars (about 2.2 billion US dollars). The company’s consolidated revenue totaled 203.5 billion Taiwan dollars (for 6.24 billion U.S. dollars), higher than predicted in the market.

In the structure of TSMC’s quarterly sales revenue from the sale of chips produced in the most cost-effective 16 – and 20-nanometer technological process, took 24%. The share of 28-nanometer chips accounted for 25% of revenue. The remainder took the sale of semiconductors manufactured according to the norms of above 28%.

In the first quarter of 2016, TSMC forecast sales level 198 to 201 billion Taiwan dollars (6-6,1 billion US dollars), and analysts – of 200.2 billion Taiwan dollars. The forecast for the gross margin 47-49% against 47.6 per cent respectively. The translation of the company’s operations on improved production technologies will allow the company to improve profitability.
