iOS 9.3 beta 2 compared to iOS 9.2.1 tests on the performance [video]

On Monday Apple released the second beta of iOS update 9.3, designed to correct some shortcomings of the operating system and add a number of important functions. Among the major innovations of this release — Night Shift mode for automatically adjusting the color temperature of the display depending on the time of day, protection with Touch ID for “Notes”, new sections in the Health app, Apple updated the CarPlay interface. We have already seen that Apple has worked hard on optimizing performance in iOS 9.2.1. The author of YouTube-channel iAppleBytes decided to compare the speed of iOS 9.3 beta 2 and the previous release of “Apple” OSes iOS 9.2.1.

Enthusiast, fanatical about testing each software product from Apple compared the performance of the OS on four devices — iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and iPhone 6. Placing a number of two smartphones with iOS 9.3 beta 2 and iOS 9.2.1, it has consistently opened applications and evaluated the performance. In the process of testing were involved in Music, Safari, Settings, App Store, Phone, YouTube, the multitasking Panel, Photo, control, and other topics. Also the device passed the test for download speed and performance in Geekbench 3.

The results of the experiment may disappoint users who expect the optimization of the new platform. Despite the obvious improvements in this area, the second beta is still running slower than the stable release. This is especially noticeable on the iPhone 4s, on which many applications are opened with a greater delay. Best of all coped with the most productive of the three subjects of gadgets – the iPhone 6.

It is obvious that the performance of iOS 9.3 is due to the expansion of the functionality of the OS. The update has increased the number of system services, including running in the background. All this could not affect the operating system performance. One hopes that Apple will find ways to optimize the OS. The final release should take place in March, together with the presentation of new products.
