Apple has provided new statistical data according to which iOS 11 installed on 65% of compatible devices.
New firmware for mobile gadgets Apple was announced in June 2017 at WWDC. The public release of iOS 11 was held in September after the presentation of iPhone 8, iPhone 8 and iPhone Plus X.
iOS 11 was one of the most significant updates to Apple’s mobile platform and received a number of brand new functions. Most of them were dictated by the capabilities of the iPhone X — anniversary Apple smartphone with edge-to-edge OLED display.
Data were obtained during a visit to the App Store. According to the statistics for Apple iOS 11 installed on 65% of supported devices and iOS 10 – 28%. The remaining 7% of the gadgets are running on earlier versions of the system.
Over the past month the number of users of the new platform increased by 6%, from 59% to 65%. The reluctance of iPhone and iPad users to abandon iOS 10 caused by a large number of errors and issues with the new firmware. Since the official release in September, Apple has released several updates aimed at solving these problems.
Despite the fact that the new version of iOS is spreading very slowly, it still leaves Android behind. The share of Android 8 Oreo on the market is only 0.7%. Many of the old gadgets simply will not receive updates from the manufacturer. Only 26.3% of smartphones are Android 7 Nougat, released over a year ago. Share Android 6 Marshmallow is 28.6%.
