Intel has introduced a new 24-nuclear flagship processor Xeon for the new Mac Pro

Four years ago Apple released a new workstation Mac Pro on the basis of server processors Xeon. If, according to rumors, in the spring the company will introduce the updated model, the computers can obtain new Intel Xeon E7-8894 v4, which consists of 24 processor cores and offers high performance to quickly perform your most demanding tasks and processing large amounts of data. At the moment, Apple offers the Mac Pro in the maximum configuration with 12-core processor.

Processor Xeon E7-8894 v4 includes 24 cores, 48 threads running at the same time. The basic operating frequency is 2.4 GHz, the maximum Turbo Boost to 3.4 GHz. Volume cache of the third level is 60 MB, bandwidth of the interface is 9.6 GT/s TDP of 165 watts.

In a statement, Intel says that the Xeon E7-8894 v4 can be installed in a motherboard with 4-8 sockets, thus allowing you to get on the same Board configuration with 192 cores and 24 TB of memory type DDR4. In the future, possible and configuration with 768 cores (32 CPU socket joint controller nodes).

The Xeon CPU is designed primarily to server-side solutions, but sometimes used in consumer-grade systems. Besides Apple uses them, for example, Falcon Northwest. The company has previously released Tiki gaming computer with Xeon processor E5-2699 v3 with 18 cores, and Boxx, with two such processors.

Mac Pro server equipped with Intel Xeon E5 v2, AMD FirePro graphics, and Thunderbolt 2 support 4K monitors. They are equipped with memory DDR3, clocked at 1866 MHz, and very fast for its time, the Flash storage.
