Installing Windows 10 on a Mac using Boot Camp. Manual

To install Windows 10, you can not only for Windows 7 and Windows 8, but on a Mac using a virtual machine, or system application Boot Camp. Requirements:

  • Mac running OS X 10.9.3 or higher.
  • 30 GB of free disk space to create a partition for Windows 10).

  • ISO image of Windows 10.

If you have everything you need, you can proceed with installing Windows 10 on a Mac. Highly recommend to backup the data on your computer using Time Machine.

How to install Windows 10 on your Mac via Boot Camp:

Step 1: On a computer with OS X, run Boot Camp Assistant. The program is in the Program folder –> Utilities.

On the first screen click Continue.

Step 2: On the second screen, if you don’t have the latest Boot Camp drivers, put both birds: Create disk of Windows 7 or later install and Download the latest Windows support software from Apple. After you click Continue, the program will prompt you to record a copy of the drivers on a USB-stick.

Step 3: Insert a USB flash drive or USB drive and select the ISO file of Windows 10. Boot Camp assistant will warn you that all data on the disk will be deleted. Click continue.

Step 4: the process of loading the drivers on a flash drive may take 10-15 minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.

Step 5: After you download the driver on a USB-stick, Boot Camp Assistant will offer to create a partition on the disk for Windows. Under the new OS you should allow at least 30 GB.

Step 6: After confirming restart your Mac. If you did everything correctly, the screen you will see the installation window Windows 10. From this point on follow the instructions on screen.

When selecting the partition to install Windows 10 select “BOOTCAMP”.

The installation process of Windows 10 can take some time. Do not interrupt the procedure, reboot, or shut down your Mac.

Step 7: When the Mac reboots the second time, you are ready to install the necessary drivers. Insert the USB flash drive on which you downloaded the driver and run the installation program.

Congratulations, you have successfully installed Windows 10 on a Mac! Now you can run any of the two operating systems at will.

Dual boot Windows 10 and OS X:

During the reboot the Mac hold down Option (Alt) to bring up the boot selection window OS. On the screen you will see a menu to run OS X and Windows. Select the desired system by clicking on the appropriate icon.
