The Syrian Rateb Alfanus, who is studying in Moscow University, filed to the Investigative Committee a statement about the crime due to the explosion of the iPhone 5s. And the defendant is Apple, said the lawyer, Alfanus.
21-year-old Syrian demands to investigate and to prosecute on charges of manufacturing and selling products not meeting safety requirements (part 1 of article 238 of the criminal code). According to “Kommersant”, Metropolitan division RCDS has already begun pre-investigation checks on the fact of explosion of the iPhone.
The statement said that on March 8, iPhone 5s Alfanus rang when he was in charge. The user answered the call, but the smartphone almost immediately exploded in his hands. With head injuries, arm and shoulder faints student was taken to the intensive care burn unit. Representatives of the Syrian insist on excitation of criminal case about sale of goods not meeting safety requirements in relation to Apple.
Baghaturia considers that the statement of Alfanus could become a precedent, as earlier in Russia claims to show Apple was only in the framework of the law on protection of consumer rights.
Previously, the possibility of excitation in Russia of criminal proceedings against Apple because of problems with smartphones is not reported. However, users around the world periodically report on the explosions of their iPhone.
The Russian subsidiary of the American company has not responded to the request of journalists.
