In Korea, the operator launched a mobile network Giga LTE with a record speed of 1.17 Gbps

5G network will begin the conquest around the year 2020. Such terms predicts the majority of mobile operators. And while new technology is unavailable, the Korean mobile service provider KT proposes to use existing resources to conquer new frontiers of speed.

The largest provider of integrated wired and wireless telecommunication services in South Korea announced the Giga technology LTE, which provides for the transfer of data with record speed. The company promises to provide bandwidth of up to 1,17 GB/s. For comparison, the maximum speed of LTE networks is 450 Mbps.

The secret is simple KT. The operator owns in Korea approximately 200,000 LTE base stations and approximately 140,000 Wi-Fi hotspots. Thus, the company expects the service Giga-LTE will be available to most people in the country.

It is noted that the network Giga LTE subscribers will be able to download the movies in ultra high definition (UHD) with a size of 18 GB in just two minutes. And to download music selections of size 3 GB will take just 20 seconds.

At first the service will only be available for owners of smartphones Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. In the future it will spread to other devices.
