In a dual camera iPhone 7 Plus uses the image sensor format 1/3, and 1/3,6 inches

The main innovation of the flagship iPhone 7 Plus is a dual camera. The device is equipped with a pair of modules: a 12-megapixel wide angle and in the same 12-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens. This combination is provided by the 2-fold optical zoom complemented by a 10x digital.

At the presentation Apple did not mention any of the main characteristics of cameras, iPhone 7 Plus. Of course, the most important parameters of the device and the resulting picture quality. However, the technical details enable users to assess in advance the possibilities of a product.

On its website Apple claims about a fixed focal length 28mm (35mm equivalent) for wide-angle cameras and a 56 mm camera with a telephoto lens. Using EXIF data from within a network of examples of photos users have calculated the size of the sensors installed in the iPhone 7 Plus.

So, it is argued that the iPhone 7 camera uses sensor optical format 1/3 inch. Exactly the same as its predecessor the iPhone 6s. In many cases, the larger the sensor size, the better. For comparison, the flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the DxOMark recognized leader in photography, using the sensor format 1/2,5 inches.

Interestingly, for the second camera Apple used a different sensor. Its format is even less — 1/3,6 inches. Camera settings iPhone 7 Plus are not leading, nevertheless Apple has always known how to make a very decent picture quality in smartphones. And the first reviews of the new items indicate that the device is equipped with one of the best quality camera in the industry.

In any case, for many potential buyers the main attraction of the iPhone 7 Plus is optical zoom. Journalists who managed to test the device, note that it began to make more shots, not because the device is tested, and because there is finally opportunity for high-quality photography of objects at a far distance.
