IHS: Apple to reduce orders of screens for laptops in 2017

In 2017 Apple will order 13.6 million displays for laptops, according to a report by research firm IHS. A year earlier, the orders for screens for MacBook amounted to 16.2 million units.

According to analysts, Apple is cutting orders for the supply of parts for their laptop computers. The volume of orders for displays for the MacBook Air will be reduced from 6 to 2.7 million units. This fact is explained by the fact that at the end of last year, the company stopped the production of 11.6-inch models “airow”. Also in warehouses is a sufficient amount of inventory for models with a diagonal display of 13.3 inch.

The main supplier of Apple will be the company LG Display. During the first quarter, Apple will continue to order the LCD panel type a-Si for MacBook Pro, after which he will order the IGZO panel, analysts say. Suppliers LG Display and Samsung Display will join the company Sharp.

The company plans to increase orders of components for the MacBook Pro from 8.8 to 9.7 million units.
