iFixit: new iPad Pro will be problematic to repair

iPad Pro has become the largest and most productive tablet Apple computer. And many would-be buyers of the gadget will certainly be interesting to look at its internals and learn about the maintainability of new products. To these questions I decided to answer in iFixit.

So, disassembling the tablet part traditionally begins with the dismantling of the display. This is not so simple: you have to fight with a large amount of glue that secures the iPad Pro. Then before us the motherboard with its own protection, which must be removed separately, camera modules, four fairly large speaker, connectors, and other elements of the device.

Layout cameras the iPad Pro is virtually indistinguishable from that of the iPad Air 2. Within a 12.9-inch tablet has two Broadcom BCM15900B0, the controller NXP Semiconductors 8416A1 for Touch ID and the display controller Parade Technologies DP695 and Texas Instruments TPS65144.

The iPad Pro features a single-chip platform Apple A9X, 4GB RAM SK Hynix, flash memory from Toshiba, a six-axis gyroscope and accelerometer InvenSense MP67B, audio chip Cirrus Logic 338S1213 and microcontroller Semiconductors NXP LPC11U37 ARM Cortex-M0.

IFixit noted in four of the acoustic camera of the tablet, which proved to be filled with foam, which provides the resonance of sound waves for a richer sound. Unfortunately, the acoustic design of the iPad Pro have improved at the expense of battery. “Premium sound means lower battery life”, – explained the specialists.

Despite the neat layout of parts of the iPad Pro, the experts assessed the maintainability of the device only 3 out of 10 possible points. However, it is hoped that owners of the tablet will not have to repair the gadget too often.
