HP is going to oust Apple in the tablet market

HP decided to change the strategy of business development of tablet computers. About it reports PCWorld, citing information obtained from the management company.

HP products will now be earmarked for different categories of users. One category will focus on ordinary consumers, while the other is on clients in the corporate sector.

HP at the moment is going to bring to market a whole line of tablets designed for mobile business. David Colin, head of HP Personal Systems, said that the manufacturer plans to release tablets for different categories of users and different tasks. So, HP will be manufacturing devices for retail, education and health.

It is important to note that HP has decided to withdraw from the market of budget tablets, because this direction does not bring any significant profits. From now on the company’s efforts will be focused on the segment of expensive solutions that are comparable in price with the iPad.

“We intend to focus on those areas where there is profit and growth prospects, and won’t chase the segment of entry level tablets,” said President of HP’s personal systems Ron Coughlin.

Many budget Android tablets have disappeared from the range of online store of HP, and those that are still listed as unavailable for ordering. Now the most affordable model of the company, which can be purchased, is HP Envy 8 Note worth approximately $330.

According to analyst firm Canalys, HP is the third largest producer of tablets and personal computers after Lenovo and Apple. Sales of these devices ahead of Samsung, HP and Dell, which are included in the five largest mobile device manufacturers.

In the global tablet market is currently on the decline due to the increasing popularity of phablets and the saturation of the industry. IDC forecasts that this year global will be sold about to 211.3 million tablets, which is 8.1% less than in 2014.
