How to use Stacks?
In the latest version of Apple’s operating system again paid special attention to the desktop macOS, offering users a new option to sort files on it. Stacks brings together documents and photos on a desktop into groups based on certain criteria specified by the owner of the computer. To take advantage of this opportunity, you need to:
- Click the right mouse button on any empty space on your desktop.
- Select Stacks.
- And specify a sort option.
You can sort by date, file type and tags. Last option is great in case if the user has a lot of files under a specific tag, but for the current work need only some of them. In this case, it is very convenient to combine all the desired file in the stack on the desktop.
How to use a new variant of the file display?
Apple also showed a new variant of the file display in Finder gallery. After switching it on images and documents in the file Manager will appear as in the Photos. To enable it, you need to:
- Open any folder in the Finder.
- Click on “Gallery” in menu “View” or press ⌘+4.
After you enable this mode of displaying information will have access to the metadata files. In the right column you can learn about the selected photo or document all necessary information, including resolution, format, size and so on.
How to use Quick Actions in the Finder?
Also in the system appeared to quickly perform some actions related to making changes to documents. For example, opening a file, you can convert it to PDF. Image you can flip and add a watermark directly in the Finder or on the desktop. To do this:
- To Open Finder.
- Enable “Gallery”.
- Highlight the desired file.
- Then in the bottom right corner of the window, see shortcuts for performing quick actions.
They can be accessed on the desktop, if you click the right mouse button on any file.
It is also worth noting that in addition to the built-in actions you can add your own, pre-creating them in Automator.
How to work with screenshots and other images in macOS Mojave?
In the latest version of the operating system for Macs, Apple has updated the Preview, introducing there the annotation tools. Now, without opening the picture, you can draw on it or cut it. To do this:
- Highlight any file and press the Spacebar.
- Click the button Markup.
- To make changes to the document and save it or send it anywhere.
The same applies to screenshots. Now after pressing the key combination ⌘+Shift+4 and select the desired area of the screen the screenshot will appear in the lower right corner of the display. If you click on it then the screen will show all tools for editing images.
