How to install the public beta of macOS High Sierra on a Mac

Last week Apple released the public beta of macOS High Sierra. The official release will be this fall, but now everyone can participate in an open testing program. To install an operating system on any Mac that is compatible with macOS 10.13.

It should be noted that the beta version of macOS High Sierra may contain bugs and is not stable enough for installation on main unit. The purpose of testing is detection of faults and vulnerabilities and address them before release of the final update.

Registration in the program testing Apple

First we need to register the computer in the beta program Apple.

Step 1. Go to the beta Program Apple.

Step 2. Click on the Register button. If you are already a member of testing, just log in to your profile.

Step 3: Enter your Apple ID and password, click Sign up.

Step 4: Read the terms official and click on the “Accept”button.

Step 5: On the page “Guide to public beta versions” tab macOS, scroll down and click “enroll your device”.

Download the beta version of macOS High Sierra

Once you have registered in the test program, you need to download the installation file.

Step 1. In the same section, scroll to “Install the public beta of macOS High Sierra”. Click on the “Enter code”.

Step 2. On the screen a window opens Mac App Store with the already entered code and downloadable application.

Step 3. Open “Downloads” and double-click on the downloaded file to run the installer.

Step 4. When the installer finishes downloading, automatically open the Mac App Store. Click “Update” after the download is complete the computer will reboot.

Installing the beta version of macOS High Sierra

If the macOS installer High Sierra does not automatically open when you restart, you can launch it from the Programs folder in the Finder.

Step 1. Click “Continue” at the bottom of the installer.

Step 2. A window will appear with a proposal to create a backup. If you have already made a backup, click “Continue”. If not, click “Cancel” and do it.

Step 3: When the backup is created, click “Continue”.

Step 4: Read the license agreement, click “Accept”.

Step 5: Select the disk on which to install the beta version of the system.

Step 6: then click “Install” enter the administrator password and click “OK”.

Step 7: After the installation the computer will restart automatically.

After a reboot the Mac will be running a public beta of macOS High Sierra.
