How to install a new font from the Apple Watch OS X Yosemite

Apple has decided again to change fonts in iPhone, iPad and Mac. Instead of Helvetica Neue the company would enter the font in San Francisco operating systems iOS 9 and OS X 10.11. At the moment it is used on “smart” watch Apple Watch on keyboards and new MacBook with Retina display.

Long time Apple used in their “OSes” Helvetica. In 2013 with the release of iOS 7 on iPhone and iPad and OS X Yosemite on the Mac debuted a more elegant Helvetica Neue. The designers were critical to this decision — the new font was hard to read. “It’s just bad interface font,” explained the designer Frank Chimero. — Low contrast, similar shape, and so on. The letters are difficult to distinguish from each other, especially in the text, typed in small font”.

In iOS 9 and OS X 10.11, which will be presented June 8, will be used by default San Francisco Display – main font of the interface of the Apple Watch. However, users already have the ability to install a new font as a system in OS X Yosemite. Instruction can benefit everyone.

How to install a new font from your Apple Watch on your Mac:

Step 1: Download pack San Francisco from GitHub or on this link.

Step 2: Open Finder in the folder ~/Library/Fonts (shortcut is Command+Shift+G).

Step 3: Copy the downloaded in the first step the files in the folder ~/Library/Fonts/ and restart the computer.

After download Mac font San Francisco will be a system in OS X. to return Helvetica Neue, again, open the folder ~/Library/Fonts and delete from there new fonts.
