How to bypass the lock Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki and Yandex desktop and mobile

May 16 the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on the extension of sanctions against the Russian Internet companies. They, in particular, suggest the blocking of social networks “Vkontakte” and “Odnoklassniki”. In addition, access is blocked to all services of “Yandex”, including search and maps. The text of the decree published on the official website of the President.

Today the major mobile operators have started blocking of “Vkontakte” and “Classmates”. There are a few simple ways to bypass the lock.

Web services

In the Network there are many web services that allows you to access these sites through proxy servers. This is one of the most obvious ways. Many sites like ProxFree, Proxyweb or Hide My Ass only require to copy the link to the site, after which they change your IP address. Keep in mind that the download speed will be significantly reduced.

Mobile app

The easiest way is to install a browser with Tor technology. For example, Onion. The only drawback of such browsers, as a rule, paid. For the Onion will have to pay $1, although the generic version for all platforms, Apple is not so much.

Onion – the most common browser which provides access to blocked sites and does not affect the operating system. Android users should pay attention on Orweb.

To bypass the lock it is not necessary to switch to another browser, you can use VPN services that allow access from any browser and applications. The most popular VPN utility — TunnelBear. It is available for iOS, Android, Mac and PC. In the latter two cases, the service is very simple to use, but with mobile platforms is more difficult. In iOS, you have to be registered, specify your e-mail.

In addition, the free version provides only 500 MB of bandwidth per month. For unlimited access will have to pay $10.

Plug-ins for browsers

Plug-ins for browsers also allow to access locked resources. The most effective of them can be called a friGate, which is available for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. According to the developers, friGate loads pages without speed limits unlike anonymizers. If the user tries to log is not a prohibited website, the plugin shows a notification.

The secret of working without speed limits is that the friGate has its own list of blocked sites that is regularly updated.
There is another plugin hola!, working a little bit worse, but it is mainly intended for fast loading of media content.

A worthy alternative to this solution TunnelBear VPN. Another convenient solution is called data saver (from Google).

Programs for PC and Mac

Board decisions often suffer from a not very intuitive interface and are paid, so beginners will be easier to install a plugin or use the Tor browser. Although in the last case you remember the days of modems that are connected to the Internet through a telephone line.
As mentioned above, a good solution is TunnelBear or service Vemeo present on all major platforms. Vemeo is also not free, the developers ask for $3.95 a month.

Turbo mode

Turbo mode was invented in Opera in 2009 just because of slow Internet connection. With activated turbo mode your browser is not connected directly to the site, and through the Opera Software server, so you will be able to visit sites blocked in your country.

By replacing the DNS server

DNS is an address book for the world wide web, the address of each Internet resource. Cellular providers can block access to sites my DNS server. You request access, the answer comes “website blocked”.

To circumvent such a lock, it is enough to replace the DNS server of your Internet provider on the other — then access to the site will be restored.

For example:

  • 8.8.8.8
  • 8.8.4.4

Hardware solutions

This method is the most expensive of all. You buy a portable proxy server and distribute it via wifi and all traffic goes through the Tor system. An example of such a device can be Onion Pi on the basis of Raspberry Pi.
