Holding “Helicopters of Russia” announced about the reduction of the use of the software American Microsoft and the transition to the Russian operating system Astra Linux. The company has deployed infrastructure using the Russian OS that provides the core applications and services. In the long term the new system will provide financial savings in licensing, jobs and technical support, said the company.
According to the agreement with the “RT-INFORM” were performed works on design of technical and organizational requirements for carrying out the configuration and deployment of Astra Linux migration user and server management company to a new virtualization platform, deployed basic information services, mail server, CommuniGate Pro, the directory services users and printing.
During the project special attention is paid to ensuring continuity of business processes, the company said. The approach provides a systematic and smooth transition to new technologies without shock loads on users and system administrators.
It was reported that “Helicopters of Russia” in the framework of import substitution intend to 2019 to completely abandon Windows in favor of free software. Currently, the holding company has a program in which the refusal to license foreign software.
In addition, the “Helicopters of Russia” intend to abandon network technologies Cisco and replace them with Russian counterparts. The company does not intend to increase IT budget, fulfilling the task of “Rostec” for the preservation of IT costs in the current year at the level of 2015.
