Hackers under the name of Elon musk stole from Twitter users 170 thousand dollars

Attackers broke into the Twitter accounts of several major foreign companies and steal their customers ‘ bitcoins for a total amount of 170 thousand dollars. It is reported by news portal BBC.
Hacker attack suffered a few major Western companies. Among them – the British film Studio Pathe UK clothing store Matalan and the American book publisher of Pantheon Books. Official pages of these companies on Twitter was a stylized account of Tesla Creator Elon musk: the attackers changed avatars ‘ accounts, registration and names and posted approximately the same content as the microblog Mask.
Posing as Elon musk, the hackers announced the start of the action for issuing free bitcoins. In order to get them, users had to send a certain amount of cryptocurrency to the published special account. As a result of the attack, the attackers stole more than 170 thousand dollars.
Representatives from Twitter declined to comment to BBC on the current situation and details of hacking accounts. Themselves, the company confirmed that their page was hacked. Now they are restoring profiles.
