Google recommends that developers of Android applications to use navigation bar in iOS style

Google published new guidelines for the design of mobile applications. Updated recommendations can cause the Android app will resemble their counterparts on iOS. The fact that Google advises developers to use in the bottom of the screen buttons, allowing the user to navigate through various sections of the application. That way you can navigate in most apps for iOS.

The area with the buttons is called “bottom navigation bar”. It should contain three to five virtual buttons responsible for navigation inside the app. If less than three sections, Google recommends to use navigation with tabs, and if you have more than five sections, the company recommends to be placed on the screen the menu “hamburger”. The hamburger in this context the name of the button of three horizontal lines.

In addition, Google added its own “chips” for the navigation bar that is missing from iOS. In particular, icons may vary in size or move, to attract the user’s attention and to inform you about some events.

As soon as developers will start to follow the new recommendations, Android apps will increasingly resemble their iOS counterparts, which in some extent can ease the transition of user from one platform to another.
