Google Maps for iOS got a new widget “Route”

The Google Maps app for iOS has got a new widget “Route” to enable navigation from the lock screen. The corresponding functionality is now available in the update 4.30.

In the new version of Google Maps for iPhone and iPad added new widget areas, which allows users to view the navigation routes directly on the lock screen. With its help you can find the direction from current location to a specified address.

To activate a widget, just hold your finger on the desktop to go to the Today screen. Then scroll down the page and click the edit button. There will be a new widget “Route”. Next you need to click the ” + ” icon to add it to the list of active widgets, and then use the capture icon to change the order of the widget.

Another innovation in Google Maps to support the iMessage service. Now, users can send the contacts of your location without leaving the chat. Also includes bug fixes and performance improvements.
