Goodbye, Apple Watch: two stories of “smart” clock Apple

Smart watch Apple Watch made a lot of noise and continue his “nadelyat”. Find laudatory or review helpful? No problem — Google in the help, their, reviews, there are thousands. Find reviews of those who bought it, used it, and now refuses it? Such less.

But there are such people. And this time it’s not some unknown bloggers, who give a “sensational” headlines in the hope of attracting readers. Last week two respected publications written on this topic. First, copy editor of the Business Insider published an article titled “I bought Apple Watch, but a month has passed and I’ve had enough”, and recently the column “Why I refuse Apple Watch” broke already well-known fashion columnist The New York Times Vanessa Friedman.

The first author is a computer geek. Second, the common man, the fashion blogger, which, however, by his own admission, avoid wearing extremely fashionable things. Unites them only what they refused from the Apple Watch and substantiated why. Delfi summarized their views.

Geek: the next version will be much better

“This is the first version. I’m sure in a year or more likely two, this product will be much better. And now I’d rather spend 400+ dollars on something else”.

Normal person: I don’t want I was judged on the clock

“When I started wearing the Apple Watch (38-mm version with strap Milanese Loop is the most compact variant with flexible steel bracelet), they became the topic of conversation wherever I went: in meetings at work, in the bakery, on the athletics track of my son… All wanted to know more about them. Then they wanted to try them. Then they made conclusions about me. Which, honestly, and I would do about any woman who walks with a big black box in his hand… No matter how pretty they look, they still look like a gadget. Especially for someone like me, with relatively small hands”.

Geek: awkward and not needed

“The application is too slow. The big disappointment. Overall the interface is quite complicated. When people ask my opinion, they get the response that the clock in two years from being a great product. They have almost no advantages over the phone. Received an SMS? Cool! Pick up the phone and answer it. Want to see the score in a basketball game? Better just pick up the phone”.

Normal person: I don’t want to look ridiculous

“…the way I look when trying to read a letter, or message, or the titles on the small screen and almost raise the wrist to eye level. Or if you should call, and the phone is not available, and I’m talking to a void. If at this point will drop the kids or friends, I practically begs to be ridiculed. “Why is it more humiliating than to look at the phone?”, — ask friends in response to complaints. That’s a good question, and the answer is simple: the phone we hold in our hands, and used to see people that have something to read with it. Type of books. But being somebody that’s looking at the wrist (or even just quickly glances), it’s still something to transmit to others a)rude or b)”hikoboshi”.

Geek: it is an accessory for ordinary people

“Apple Watch is unlikely to be a big hit. It is an accessory for 400 dollars. Unfortunately, it is not useful for the same $ 400”.

An ordinary man: it is an accessory for computer geeks

“When I told a colleague about the breakup of [the Apple Watch], he suggested that I may not the target audience hours. And what should I tell Siri on your wrist: “it’s not you, it’s me”. He might be right. But I don’t think so, and not because opposites often attract. But because I’m just the target audience. Non-technical people, who otherwise would not have so many gadgets (phone, iPad, laptop), but which could be tempted to buy another one just because he’s so desirable and attractive. In the end, that’s why Apple increases market share and gets the whole niche, catching those who are not a fan of Apple. This is why the company works so hard to approach the world of fashion. But here’s the thing: the Apple Watch is not really a fashion accessory for geeks. This techno-accessory masquerading as a fashion accessory. And I just didn’t fall for it”.
