The Foundation for Internet development initiatives (FRIA) asked the government to extend the blocking of websites with pirated content on the distribution of torrent files. This is reported by “Vedomosti” with reference to the portfolio Manager of the Fund Sergey Villains. Now the law allows to block pages at a specific address, and to stop pirate a torrent, you must enable the operators to block infohash – unique identifiers hands, he says. And it will not require amendments to the primary anti-piracy law, it is sufficient to amend the bylaws.

Earlier, the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov told that his Department already uses the technology of Pirate Pay to block pirated content. He considers it to be effective: it allowed the Roskomnadzor to block access to all the latest movie premieres on almost 100%. According to Klimenko, the average efficiency of protection – 60-70%, i.e. out of 100 people who started downloading the contents of a torrent, only 30 will be able to complete it.
