Eighth of January 2018, Google announced the merger of Android Pay, and Google Wallet into a single payment service called Google Pay.
From the official statement, that within a few weeks, users will be able to completely switch to Google Pay. The payment system will be used in the Internet, retail stores, Google services and to transfer money to Google Wallet traditional way.
At the beginning of January 2018 Google Pay is available in some third-party applications. Among them: YouTube, Chrome, Airbnb, Dice, Fandango, HungryHouse and Instacart.
The release says that the competitor Apple Pay completely eliminates system Android Pay, and the old sticker will be forcibly removed with payment terminals. This happens because of the total rebranding — logo Google Pay will appear in applications, on web sites and next to the conventional terminals in stores.
In the beginning of 2018 Google Pay and Samsung Pay are the largest competitors to Apple Pay in the mobile payment services. In addition, Google also competes with Apple in the niche of one-time payments between ordinary people. Recently Apple launched the Apple Pay Cash in the USA. It allowed users to transfer each other money directly through iMessage.
