This week the company “T-Platforms” presented the first production PC-based Russian processors “Baikal-T1”. Computer, made in the form factor monoblock, called “Meadowsweet terminal”.
Processor “Baikal-T1” – pride “T-Platforms” – created her “daughter”, a company “Baikal electronics”. This industrial chip architecture MIPS32 R5 Warrior. It has two 32-bit kernel Р5600 with an operating frequency up to 1.2 GHz, L2 cache 1MB, memory controller DDR3-1600. Strictly speaking, Russia has developed only the chip, functional units of the processor core licensed from Imagination Technologies, and the processor produced at the facilities of TSMC.
Processor “Baikal-T1” – dual core, on the manufacturer’s website PC, its capabilities are not disclosed. Direct competitors “T-Platforms” refers to an American chip company Broadcom Stratagx series and Freescale QorIQ T1020 series. On the basis of these chips are created routers (including Pets), and industrial automation and thin clients. The performance of these solutions are inferior to the computers based on the Intel 5-6 years ago.
Chip “Baikal-T1” is positioned as Russia’s first processor created on the basis of 28-nm process. Flagship smartphone iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which includes single-chip platform Apple A9, produced by two different manufacturers Samsung and TSMC: the first 14-nanometer technology in the second — 16-nanometer. The computing power of the Apple A9 so high that it is comparable in performance not only with devices in its class, but also with gadgets of other categories, mentioned before AnandTech. According to observers, Apple’s latest generation have reached a level of performance that can compete with the lineup of Intel Core M.
The previous generation iPhone, which debuted in 2014, is based on the Apple A8 chip and comes all the same TSMC 20-nm process technology. An even earlier model of the iPhone 5s created on the basis of 28-nanometer Apple A7 processor. And it is this architecture corresponds to the architecture of processors “Baikal-T1” from “Meadowsweet terminal”. Thus A7 is a 64-bit chip, and the Russian “rock” operates on 32-bit kernels.
In addition to the 2-nuclear processor 21.5-inch “Meadowsweet terminal” includes SM750 graphics adapter with 16 MB of video memory. RAM in the candy bar – 2 to 8 GB, the drive can choose either 8 GB NAND Flash or 8GB Disk-on-Chip SSD or 2.5” SATA SSD. The computer is equipped with two Gigabit Ethernet ports that allow you to work with two different networks (for example, external and internal) and four USB 2.0 ports.
The first major deliveries of monoblocks cost 69,000 rubles planned for the second quarter. Among those who focused computer “Meadowsweet Terminal”, named Federal Executive authorities of Russia, government organizations and corporate customers, preferring local solutions and places high demands on data security.
