Fingerprint scanner iPhone 8 can be embedded in the power button

It is no secret that the iPhone 8 will get a screen “edge to edge”. The display panel of the device will occupy almost the entire front side, for this reason, it will lose the “Home” button, which housed a fingerprint scanner.

There is a speculation that Apple intends to integrate biometric module directly to the screen of the new iPhone 8, or completely abandon the use of Touch ID. Now there is another version, no less plausible than the previous two.

According to a new patent filing Apple’s engineers are considering the possibility to transfer the fingerprint scanner in the power button. The document describes a device in which the function of the fingerprint sensor is power button, which can be located in the usual place on the top panel. The button can be covered with a durable protective glass, perhaps a sapphire.

It should be noted that it is only a patent application Apple. The company also has several patents in which Touch ID is under the surface of the display.

This year, Apple will announce three smartphones: in addition to the anniversary of the iPhone 8 will be released and iPhone 7s iPhone 7s Plus about the same design. It is expected that all devices will have glass housings and support wireless charging. In the older models, Apple is expected to move to the use of OLED displays instead of LCD.
