Facebook employees forced to move from iPhone to Android smartphones

Facebook forces developers mobile clients to abandon the iPhone in favor of smartphones running the Android operating system. This was stated by the Director of social product Chris Cox.

The reason lies not in the shortcomings of the iPhone, but the desire of the administration to improve the official app for the mobile platform Google. It turned out that Facebook client for Android was created by people who did not use this platform. According to Coke, so Facebook employees will better understand what is missing to the majority of users of the social network.

“I have committed a significant part of the development team to change iPhone to Android simply due to the fact that they are using their personal devices and prefer the iPhone”, — said a top Manager.

Initially Facebook was focused on building iPhone apps. As a result, the social network client for Android are less elaborated than for the platform of a competing Corporation. But if Facebook programmers will start to use the “phones”, then they will have more incentive to fix bugs in the software, says the administration of the service. Moreover, the majority of Facebook users in emerging markets use Android.

For the first time Facebook has started to encourage its developers to abandon the iPhone in favor of Android smartphones in 2012. Posters with similar appeals were hung around the office of the Internet Corporation.

Note that the main Facebook engineer Tom Allison said that the office of the social network appeared the so-called 2G-Tuesdays, when the employees of the company within the hour can only use the Internet on a slow Internet connection, to better understand the particularities of developing countries such as Kenya or China.
