Enthusiast created a patch to bypass the lock updates for Windows 7 and 8.1 on the newer processors

Recently, Microsoft, as promised, began blocking updates for owners of computers with new processors and Windows 7 and 8.1. Enthusiasts have found a way to bypass this restriction.

As you know, the owners of the new generation of processors (in particular Intel and AMD Kaby Lake Bristol Ridge), which are Windows 7 and 8.1, are actually stopped getting the updates, aside from the occasional security updates. Many users were outraged that the patches from part of the April package is simply not installed, informing about the incompatibilities with hardware. Accordingly, they are not downloading from Microsoft servers any drivers and updates.

GitHub user known by the nickname Zeffy, I decided to fix the problem on their own. The researcher found that the restriction meets the KB4012218 update, released in March 2017. Zeffy traversal the update and began to develop a means of circumventing a new ban, and after the release of the April set of patches he got the opportunity to test his decision in the case. As it turned out, the method works: patch DLL-files Windows and lowers the test version of CPU, which enables the users to install updates on Windows 7 and 8.1, even if they work in the system, based on seventh-generation processor.

After using the patch computers based on the latest Intel and AMD processors, and operates under Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, start again to get updates.

Their scripts and guidelines for their use are available on GitHub. The project is completely open, so anyone can verify that Zeffy has not tried to hide in the code malware and not up to anything sinister.
