Elbrus 101-P based on domestic CPU will compete with Mac mini

While some complain about sanctions when summing up the financial results, the other in the same time are working to find domestic import substitution. Exactly this is the magic mantra “sanctions” was the resuscitation of the Patriotic platform “Elbrus”. No, it’s not created out of the blue story. The birth of “Elbrus” begins in the days of the USSR 70-ies. Today, the company exists under the name “MCTS Elbrus” — the Russian microprocessor technology and computing systems).

The producers stage of transition from development to mass production are often very painful, for obvious reasons. A key role in the start of serial production — financial viability. And, apparently, the “MCTS Elbrus” this step failed. Computer under the name “Elbrus 101-PC” is positioned as universal, inexpensive portable mini-PC. A sort of Mac mini with the amendment to the domestic platform and assembled in the territory of Russia.

The computer is equipped with integrated single-core processor Elbrus 1 with a clock frequency of 1 GHz, with economical power consumption 7 watts (average load 5 W) with integrated graphics core. The first in a series of “Elbrus” control voltage and core frequency of the microprocessor is organized from the OS dynamically. The integrated processor accelerator operates at a frequency of 800 MHz and supports 3D acceleration. Low power consumption of the chip allow to cool it in a passive way.

The company said that this computing platform laid for wide use. Elbrus 101-RS can be used as a module of management of industrial production, on-Board computer transport, a personal portable terminal, the network storage system (NAS). The manufacturer believes that the device can be called universal, it is suitable for office tasks and for automated control systems.
