Edge browser will appear on the iPhone

Microsoft confirmed that it plans to release Edge browser for iOS and Android.

Version for iPhone and iPad is already in the testing stage, but to take part in it only users from the United States.

Edge for mobile devices will get several new features.

The first is “to Continue on PC”. This is an analogue of Continuity for iOS and Mac. It will be possible to quickly send links from your phone to your computer and continue working on it.

The second function – Hub View. This is the section where you store bookmarks, browsing history and a list of saved articles.

Bookmarks and history from the mobile browser will be synced with the PC version immediately after release. Later Microsoft plans to add password sync and purchases from the Microsoft Store.

As the engine in iOS will use WebKit in Android – Chromium. This means that Edge for mobile devices is just another “cover” for existing browsers. Technically it’s nothing different from Safari, and Google Chrome. However, Microsoft is betting on new user experience and deep integration with its other products.
