Dune HD has announced a compact set-top box 4K Solo. Among the competitive advantages of new products compared to Apple TV the manufacturer calls support 4K/Ultra HD and HEVC codec (H. 265).
Dune HD claim that SOLO 4K is capable of playing almost any video. And the built-in tuner DVB-T/T2 gives the possibility to watch terrestrial digital broadcasting.
The “heart” SOLO 4K was the processor Sigma Designs SMP8758 on ARM architecture. On speed it is four times superior to the processors used in the players Dune HD previous generation. In addition to playing 4K video, the player is able to increase the image quality to 4K or Full HD videos with lower resolution. Picture clarity is guaranteed by the use of professional grade video processor VXP.
The player is equipped with a wireless adapter Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, simultaneous dual band (2.4 and 5.0 GHz) and Gigabit Ethernet, two USB ports and a slot for the drive size 2.5 inches with interface SATA. Among other advantages the player has full menu support in images Blu-ray discs.
The player supports HEVC codec and the new standard that uses 10 bits per color component (instead of the usual 8 bits). This gives you the ability to display over a billion colors, 64 times higher than previously available indicators.
Another interesting feature SOLO 4K is the ability to boot one of two operating systems: specialized OS based on Linux that implements the functionality of the player, or Android, where is available the relevant app. In addition, the Z-Wave controller for smart home (optional).
Price Dune HD Solo 4K in Russia is 21 500 rubles. The company opened pre-order for the set top box. Apple TV in Russia costs and 13 990 17 990 rubles for models 32 and 64 GB of memory respectively.
