Dropbox announced the closure of email client Mailbox and Carousel lenses

Dropbox announced the termination of the operation of the mobile mail app Mailbox and Carousel photo service. Both projects were created from startups, to buy Dropbox which spent more than 100 million.

“The creation of new products is not only a continuous development and creation of projects, but also hard decisions. In recent months we have shifted our team to work together and facilitating cooperation of other people. In light of this, we decided to close the Mailbox and Carousel,” said Dropbox.

Dropbox bought the development team mail app Mailbox in March 2013. The company called the app “advanced mailbox”. “You will be able in one swift movement to send the message to the archive or to the trash, view the correspondence in chat mode, one click to postpone the letter for further processing (this email will automatically appear at the right time in the mailbox while you will be able to focus on current Affairs)”, – described the app in Dropbox.

As for the Carousel project, he appeared in 2014 from the service Snapjoy, which Dropbox acquired in late 2012. For reasons unknown, Dropbox decided to stop work on Mailbox and Carousel and integrate their functions into other applications.

“Users Carousel and Mailbox, we thank you and ask your forgiveness. It’s not easy to say goodbye to services that we all loved. Nevertheless, we think that it will help us to create better products in the coming months and years,” the company said.

Dropbox intends to soon announce its decision to all the users Mailbox and Carousel. Mailbox will stop its work on 26 February 2016, Carousel — 31 March 2016.
