Dream audiophile: HomePod will support the music without compression

HomePod features indicate that Apple is serious about sound quality on your device. Smart column will support FLAC out of the box.

FLAC is an audio format without loss of quality, i.e. it does not have any compression. The music in Spotify or Apple Music is compressed to 256 or 320 Kbps.

Audiophile community for many years requested to add support for FLAC format. The company uses its own lossless format called Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC). Its disadvantage is that it is only supported in the Apple ecosystem.

FLAC support is the most important step for the HomePod, because wirelessly I want to get the maximum. Typically, wireless standards such as Bluetooth, to limit playback of audio files without compression, as desired channel with a large bandwidth. As an exception can be used Bluetooth with AptX codec support. There is every reason to believe that the transfer of FLAC will be via AirPlay 2.

Apple claims that the sound quality HomePod will differ from other portable speakers in a better way. Built-in subwoofer provides clean, deep bass response, and seven tweeters are responsible for the accurate transmission of high-frequency sounds and acoustic compositions.
