Creator of Android Andy Rubin is planning to release a smartphone with a display “edge to edge” and ceramic body

The Creator of the Android operating system, Andy Rubin, who left Google in 2014, plans to release its own smartphone Essential. About it reports Bloomberg with reference to informed sources.

The team of ruby became about 40 employees who previously worked at Google and Apple. Company is registered at the end of 2016. The developer of Android has held the post of Director-General.

Essential will deal with the development of smartphones, tablets and software for mobile devices. The company has already created a prototype of a device, the screen is better than the iPhone 7 Plus.

It is noted that the display model will occupy almost the entire front panel, making the smartphone will be less competitor. The case is made of ceramic. However what operating system to use devices not yet clear.

Ruby is experimenting with screens that respond differently to different pressure (like 3D Touch features in the iPhone). He plans to create a new connector, which will enable to charge the smartphone and to add additional modules. In particular, the Essential works on the camera that will allow you to take 360-degree photographs, said one of the sources.

Currently, the smartphone under the brand Essential is in the prototype stage, but Rubin is already planning to sell in the same price segment with the iPhone and Google Pixel, specifies Bloomberg.

Smartphone sales may start in mid-2017. Representatives of Rubin, declined to comment.
